Kerry Washington is Headed to 'SNL'

by Kaitlin Reilly

Our favorite political fixer/President's mistress is headed to Saturday Night Live. The ever-flawless Kerry Washington is showing her comedic side by hosting the show on Nov. 2. Washington will host alongside musical guest Eminem, marking Eminem's sixth time as musical guest, and Washington's first as host. And I, for one, am totally hyped.

Washington's hosting gig comes right on the heels of Kenan Thompson's remarks about SNL 's lack of diversity amongst the cast. Five of the six new cast members of the variety show are all white men, and Thompson blames the show's lack of black female regulars on the fact that they "aren't ready" for the show. Umm, okay. Whatever. We guess that Kenan Thompson can just put on a dress and call it a day.

While Kerry Washington has only showed her funny side in a handful of projects, her recent work in Django Unchained seemed to indicate a dark, biting sense of humor. Plus, the Scandal star certainly has the acting chops and range to deliver a solid performance amongst the (often mediocre) sketches. After all, she's Olivia-freaking-Pope! What wrong can she do?

Someone needs to show Thompson that black women can be funny. And Kerry Washington is certainly a good start.
