'iZombie's Aly Michalka Has Been Busy Since Disney

Former Disney Channel stars are all over our screens these days. A prime example is Shia LeBeouf, who played Louis Stevens on Even Stevens once upon a time in the early 2000s. Hilary Duff used to have a cartoon alter ego as the titular Lizzie McGuire. Now, it's Aly Michalka's time. You probably remember her as the bubbly Keely Teslow from Disney Channel's Phil of the Future, which aired from 2004 to 2006. On Tuesday night, Michalka will co-star on iZombie as Peyton Charles. The new CW series was developed by Veronica Mars exec producers Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero, and they were lucky to nab Michalka for the role — she's actually been super busy between Phil of the Future's end and iZombie's debut.

iZombie follows former medical student Liv (played by Rose McIver), who is now a zombie that works at morgue, and Michalka plays her roommate. Is Peyton OK with her roomie's brain-eating habit — or will she become one of Liv's meals? We shall see. It's one of many cool roles Michalka has played since graduating from the Disney Channel to the big screen, network TV shows, and even a few albums as the musical duo 78violet, which is made up of her and her sister A.J.

Here's what Michalka's been up to since Phil of the Future became part of the past.

Movies

Michalka had her share of roles on the big screen opposite some big names. She starred opposite fellow Disney Channel alum Vanessa Hudgens in the 2009 romantic comedy Bandslam. The following year, Michalka played Emma Stone's best friend Rhiannon in the hit comedy Easy A. In 2011, she played a college girl who feels Leighton Meester's wrath in The Roommate. Michalka also co-starred opposite comedy legends Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, and David Spade in 2013's Grown Ups 2.

TV Shows

iZombie won't be Michalka's first show on The CW. In 2010, she starred in the short-lived comedy-drama Hellcats opposite High School Musical's Ashley Tisdale. Michalka went on to guest star in several other shows, such as CSI: NY, Breaking In, Two and a Half Men, and Anger Management.

Music With 78violet

Together with her sister A.J., Michalka has released three studio albums and six singles as the pop rock duo 78violet (aka Aly & A.J.). Their 2005 debut album Into the Rush was certified gold and has sold more than 1 million copies worldwide. The Michalka sisters have also released a holiday album called Acoustic Hearts of Winter and their third album Insomniatic, which was also certified gold.

Maybe we'll get to see Peyton sing a few tunes on iZombie — you know, if she isn't too preoccupied with her roommate becoming a zombie.
