Robin Thicke Is Gonna Be in a Movie

by Alanna Bennett

Robin Thicke is now a director. Evidently not content with living the musicians' life of denying association with Miley Cyrus, Thicke's new movie Mercy, a short film for Starz, is his latest project. He wrote it, directed it, and stars in it.

The film will also feature Thicke's wife Paula Patton, as well as the endlessly cute Amandla Stenberg (Rue from The Hunger Games). Here's the synopsis, as laid out by The Hollywood Reporter:

Based on true events, Mercy follows Tom (Thicke), a family-focused limo driver, and his wife, Cynthia (Patton), a woman who is plagued by alcohol and drug addiction. [Robert] Patrick plays Randall Cross, a man full of regrets who cannot sit idly by as he is on the verge of losing his home after his wife succumbs to cancer. Stenberg plays Tom and Cynthia's daughter, a talented violinist and former student of Randall's dying wife.

This of course isn't Thicke's first foray into acting; he's appearing in BET's Real Husbands of Hollywood and in the indie film Abby in the Summer, as well. His dad is also Canadian actor Alan Thicke, which we all know as Dr. Seaver from the Growing Pains. Acting, apparently, runs in their veins.

But what, no parading naked women? No Pharrell? Probably no giant hashtags? Wha??? This should be interesting.
