'Harry Potter' Musical Parodies Will Always Rock

by Alanna Bennett

Harry Potter and the Internet rose to prominence at around the same overwhelming time in human history, and so we have never lived in a world that exactly lacked Harry Potter musical parodies. Competition don't mean any damn thing, though, when you're dealing with Voldemort singing "Uptown Funk" in a voice that sounds suspiciously close to Bruno Mars'. Seriously, though. Bruno Mars, are you in there? Is that you?

It's probably not. But that doesn't stop this Harry Potter "Uptown Funk" parody from being all kinds of great. I've always been a sucker for a singing/dancing Voldemort, because it's nearly impossible to take a supervillain with no nose who drinks unicorn blood completely seriously, especially when he doesn't even think to hide the crucial pieces of his soul anywhere other than Great Britain. Making fun of Voldy is necessary, as is making as many parodies of the endlessly catchy "Uptown Funk." I mean, there is a shot in this thing wherein (bald) Voldemort is wearing pink hair rollers. I love it.

They also happened to find the perfect person to play Voldemort in this because — seriously, is that Bruno Mars? The face says no, but the voice says yes. This performance is aces, and I can't get enough of the infusion of the actual Harry Potter score in there.

While we're at this, though, let's look back at some other Harry Potter musical parodies based off of hit songs. And we're not even getting into Wizard Rock, an entire musical genre you should definitely listen to.

Lady Gaga's "Born This Way"

Katy Perry's "California Girls"

Like "Born This Way," this is another one by Not Literally, who clearly rock at Harry Potter musical parodies.

Far East Movement's "Like A G6"

Flash back to 2010.

Katy Perry's "Dark Horse"

LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem"

Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song"

Cali Swag District's "Teach Me How To Dougie"

This one features a TERRIFYING Dobby costume.
