Rihanna Accused Of Plagiarism
Yikes — this doesn't sound good. Following the release of Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money" last week, Rihanna is facing plagiarism allegations from fans of the rapper Just Brittany, Huffington Post reports. Just Brittany's fans reportedly claim that the hook and lyrics from Just Brittany's "Betta Have My Money," — which was released nine months ago on Soundcloud — very closely resemble that of Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money." Additionally, The Guardian reports that rip-off rumors first started when Just Brittany tweeted and later deleted a link that seemed to suggest a similarity between the two songs.
So far, reps for Rihanna and Just Brittany haven't officially commented on the allegations, but Just Brittany's fans may want answers soon.
As fans have reportedly pointed out on social media, the two songs almost identical elements are so alike in their overall sound and vibe, it's difficult to deny off the bat that they sound similar. Additionally, The Fader points out that neither song titles are unique in that they both borrow heavily from earlier similarly titled songs riffing on the "Bitch Betta/Better Have My Money" theme.
At this point, it's unclear what the official word is on the allegations, but for comparison purposes, here's Just Brittany's song:
