Is Steroline The New Endgame?

On Monday night, out of nowhere, Nina Dobrev announced that she was leaving The Vampire Diaries after six seasons playing Elena. Of course, like with anything else having to do with TVD, this got fans talking. OK, this got fans talking more than most TVD news, but either way, suddenly fans' heads were flooded with questions. Will Elena die? What will happen with Delena? And, the question we're here to (try) to answer: Is Steroline the new endgame? Well, unless there's another surprise and the series ends at the end of this season when Dobrev heads out, it sure ain't Delena.

A Steroline endgame — aka the pair you want to see together when the series ends — could happen because, well, for one, both actors are still on the show. But in addition to that, Stefan and Caroline have both flipped off their humanity switches, and they've gotta come back on at some point, so there's the chance that they'll finally get the timing right and both be able to face their emotions together.

That said, obviously a question like this is impossible to answer definitively. An endgame couple is in the eye of the beholder — or shipper. So, in this case, it's only right that we take to the Interwebz to see what fans think. And, perhaps not surprisingly, considering news of Dobrev's departure just broke, people are not too excited about a Steroline endgame.

Will fans' thoughts be taken into account? Will Steroline switch their humanity back on? Like with everything else with this show, we'll just have to wait and see (and complain/jump for joy on Twitter in the meantime.)
