'Game of Thrones' Sansa Stark Prom Inspiration From Before & After Her On-Screen Transformation

Prom season is almost upon us, and you know what that means: Time to start firing up the Pinterest boards and gearing up for some major shopping. There are a lot of things to consider when it comes to the delicate art of prom dress-selecting, but here's one I've always been a fan of: Outfits inspired by your favorite people, be they fictional or historical. And you know who one of my current personal heroes is right now? Ms. Sansa Stark, of Winterfell — so let's put together a prom outfit that Sansa from Game of Thrones would approve of!

Game of Thrones offers a lot of great characters to choose from when it comes to fashion inspiration — Margaery's Alexander McQueen-inspired digs are especially epic, and Daenerys has the cut-out game on lock — but for today, let's take a look at Sansa, who recently got a reverse Ally Sheedy-in-The Breakfast Club makeover. After all, pre-makeover she had some absolutely gorgeous fairy tale-esque garb, and post-makeover, she's absolutely slaying it in all black — so there's a lot of look to get your inspiration from. Let's start with Sansa before she decided to get in on the whole "you win or you die" game by going full-Maleficent:

Before she decided to dye her hair black and team up with Littlefinger, Sansa was all about ballads, songs, and fairy tales, so keep your look ultra-romantic and classic. She favored regal brocade, especially in paler colors, and of course you're going to need a Ser Dontos-approved statement necklace to store your Joffrey-murdering poison in!

Sansa made quite the flip, going straight from princess to evil queen. With this look, you'll want to keep things black and a touch vampy. A dark berry lip tint will finish the look well, but keep things youthful by adding some luminizer. Basically, just keep in mind that this is the outfit you set out to take over Westeros in.
