Bane's Gettin' Musical

Are you ready to see a supervillain play a musical icon? If not, you should probably ignore all forthcoming headlines concerning Rocketman, because Tom Hardy's landed the role of Elton John. That's right — Bane's gonna sing, and it's gonna get glittery.

Just imagine Bane sitting at a giant piano, on-stage, draped in a truly gargantuan feather boa. That's where our head is right now, and it is really great.

According to The Wrap, Rocketman — which is being directed by Michael Gracey and written by Billy Elliot scribe Lee Hall — will be a "a larger-than-life movie musical spectacle that tells the story of a child prodigy turned music legend."

Peter Schlessel, one of the film's producers, had this to say about Hardy and the part(y):

Tom is quickly becoming known as one of the world’s most versatile actors, and like others at the top of their craft, he has proven his ability to transform himself completely into the character or subject found in the material. We are confident that Tom will embody the physicality and spirit of Sir Elton. This, in conjunction with the creative team led by Michael and Rocket Pictures, will provide the foundation for something that will be a unique cinematic event.
