Amidst the ubiquitous boho regalia of Coachella, the Haim sisters stand out for not looking like extras in Almost Famous. Instead of coming dressed in the festival uniform of cutoffs, crochet tops, and Gaucho hats, HAIM came to Coachella in some refreshingly simple outfits befitting their chill-as-hell style. I have to give a special shout-out to Este Haim in particular, as her floral and black full-skirted dress is everything I want and need in a spring frock.
Before I get into Este, Alana and Danielle deserve props for their all-black-everything looks. Danielle's blousy cotton dress is the kind of thing that you'd be content existing in all summer long. Not only is it a chic and easy garment to wear, its style and color make it impervious to pit stains. Alana is nailing the outfit algorithm for chill greaser with her LBD layered under an LBJ (that's little black jacket, not Lyndon B. Johnson). I would like to make both of these outfits mine.
Este's tropical flower fit-n-flare midi dress, however, has captured my heart. In the event that I ever become a cartoon in a '90s-Nicktoon-style series, I'm officially requesting this as the outfit that I wear in every episode. Plus, those sandals? Flatforms may seem like an unexpected choice for the dress, which has an almost New Look-y feel. Nonetheless, I decree this a home run. Nine thumbs up!! Snaps for unconventional styling choices!!!!
