'Game Of Thrones' As A Children's Show?!

by Loretta Donelan

Season 5 of Game of Thrones airs on HBO at 10 EST on Sunday, and if you have kids, they'll hopefully be in bed by then. However, if they are wondering why you're talking about dragons so much and not including them, there's now a kid-friendly alternative for every adult's favorite violent, sexual, and very naked show — and it's designed by George R.R. Martin himself. 'Lil Thrones is an animated children's cartoon parody of Game of Thrones that conveniently summarizes the show for the benefits of easily confused young ones. But actually, no child should ever watch this cartoon, as it would give them nightmares and perhaps question the entertainment choices of their elders.

OK, so it's not real— the short video gag is a collaboration between Martin and Conan O'Brien's Team Coco. Adults will enjoy the segment with its blunt description of the actions in Game of Thrones, as well as its dead-on overall hopelessness and depiction of Tyrion as the only likable character on the show. It's a helpful recap to prepare you for Season 5, if the only thing you'd forgotten about Game of Thrones was how dark, violent, and morally ambiguous it was. Honestly, I didn't think Game of Thrones could get more disturbing, especially in cartoon form, but I suppose anything is possible — this proves it. Congratulations, Conan and George R. R. Martin, you've given me nightmares.

Here are the reasons why this video is creepier than the actual show.

The Fact That It's A Musical

A very nasal musical.

The Cartoon Blood And Guts

And the splats.

Ned Stark's Singing, Disembodied Head

And the fact that it moves as he sings.

The Red Wedding Reminder

TOO SOON, GUYS.

Tyrion

Actually, that part is awesome.
