Josiah Is Officially The Next Duggar To Court

by Nicole Pomarico

Jessa Duggar's wedding to Ben Seewald may have just barely reached the TLC airwaves, but the family from 19 Kids and Counting is already preparing for what could be their next set of nuptials. According to an official announcement from People, as of last week, 18-year-old Josiah Duggar is courting Marjorie Jackson, the 17-year-old daughter of the Duggars' Spanish tutor, Analucia. If you feel like this one came out of left field, it's because it kind of did. After all, as a true Duggar aficionado, I would've predicted that Jana or John David would be next in line, but for the third time, a younger sibling has beaten them both to the punch. Josiah and Marjorie have known each other for years, though, and he says she really caught his attention during a mission trip to El Salvador in 2014.

"It's been going very well," Josiah told the magazine. "I met Marjorie a few years ago, when I was taking Spanish lessons at her house and I was very impressed with the way she was with her siblings and her love for the Lord."

Sounds like the same standard reasons any of the Duggars have decided to court their future spouses, but to be fair, they've barely been courting a week. I'm expecting more personal reasons why they like each other in the coming months, especially since that's what courting is for in Duggar world: getting to know each other better, and side hugs.

And although I think Josiah and Marjorie are both super young to be thinking about marriage, I already like them together — and from my thorough Internet stalking, she actually seems like a pretty cool girl.

She wrote a book

It's called The Greatest Book You've Never Read, and it's basically the Bible, split up into easily digestible chapters to help younger audiences understand it. Being that she released this book in 2013 when she was only 15, that's pretty impressive — and at the time, her future mother-in-law dropped a glowing review for the book on her blog.

Her family is a bit more progressive than the Duggars

In this photo from her book's Facebook page, Marjorie is wearing pants. Pants, people! This is huge! So while her faith is definitely a big influence on her life, it seems that her family might be a bit more relaxed about it. Besides, she only has four siblings to Josiah's 18 — a big family by any other standard than the Duggars'.

She's musical — just like Josiah

From a biography from a conference she spoke at:

Among many hobbies, Marjorie enjoys playing the piano, singing with her sister Genevieve, musical theater, art, watching black-and-white TV shows from the fifties, and talking with family, friends, strangers… pretty much anybody.

Since Josiah grew up singing and playing instruments like all of his siblings, they definitely have this in common — and I love it. I think this courtship is off to a pretty good start... even if, you know, it's only been happening for a week.
