If you follow Ben Stiller on Instagram, you likely noticed that he used the social network today to announce the actor who will be playing his son in the sequel to Zoolander . (You were probably also aware that there's going to be a sequel to Zoolander, which was news to me this morning.) A little internet investigation tells me that Zoolander 2 is currently scheduled to come out on Feb. 16, 2016, a little less than a year from now, and just under a decade and a half after the original was released. Which is how it's possible for Stiller's character Derek Zoolander to have a teenage son now, played by a young actor named Cyrus Arnold, whom you might recognize from a previous stint on Sam & Cat.
But of course the cast is busy filming now — in Italy, no less — so there isn't much we know about the storyline, other than the fact that it has a bunch of funny people, like Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell, obviously, and this teenage son. And since I'm not a particularly patient person, I decided to put together seven things that I'd like to see happen in this movie between Derek and his son, just in case it's still early enough to influence the movies. Can someone let the producers know I wrote this? Cool, thanks.
Matching Outfits
Just please. Please please please.
A Kid Who Really Just Wants To Be A Coal Miner
Maybe Derek wants his kid to be a model, but in the ultimate ironic twist, his kid just wants to be a coal miner! Full circle!
An Awkward Father-Son Photoshoot
I'm imagining those awkward prom photo poses, you know the ones I mean.
A Baby Photo Montage
We have a lot of ground to cover as far as parts of this kid's life that we've missed, and I would love it if we could catch up in the form of a baby photo montage of all the ridiculous outfits Derek has put this kid in throughout his life.
Blue Steel: The Sequel
It's time.
Young Love
Would love to see Derek Jr. try to find love while Derek Sr. invariably messes it all up.
A Father-Son Walk-Off
The most important thing a father ever teaches his son is... how to strut your stuff on the catwalk. Show it to me, it's all I want.
