'Girl Meets World' Will Be Back Very Soon

by Nicole Pomarico

Before Girl Meets World premiered last summer, I was excited, but a little nervous. Boy Meets World has been a show close to my heart for as long as I could remember, so I was glad that it would be coming back, though I knew it wouldn't be the same. Plus, bringing back those beloved characters and getting it right is pretty tricky. Would Disney Channel be able to pull it off? A season of the show later, I think I can officially say it was a success. I love watching Girl Meets World and reliving my teen years, and even though the show is cheesy sometimes, wasn't the original? This Friday, the first season wraps up, but don't worry — Girl Meets World Season 2 already has a premiere date, and it's soon!

The show will return on May 15, less than a month after Season 1 ends, according to Variety. This is awesome news, because Disney's already announced all kinds of things that I'm excited to see in Season 2, like the return of one very special Boy Meets World character: Eric Matthews. Yep, Will Friedle — the artist formerly knows as Playswithsquirrels — will be making his first appearance on Girl Meets World, and obviously, it's going to be amazing.

According to Variety, here's what else we can expect.

The season premiere, which guest stars Cloris Leachman, follows Riley and Maya as they embark on a new year at John Quincy Adams Middle School and are eager to transfer out of Cory’s class. The change, however, doesn’t offer the excitement and independence they hoped it would. Meanwhile, Riley’s little brother, Auggie, learns what it means to say goodbye to a very close friend.

Basically, this is going to be the best season ever, and I'm totally on board for whatever other Boy Meets World cast members might want to join for guest appearances. The more nostalgia they can serve up, the better, especially if Disney's interested in keeping its older audience around that watches to see their old favorites. And, you know, they should, because I will keep watching Girl Meets World until it beats Cory and Topanga's sickeningly adorable marriage into the ground.

Meanwhile, I'll be over here, counting down the days 'til Eric is back and hoping that he shows up with a giant beard and a long, brown cloak. Can we get an episode surrounding his future manifesto? Lose one friend, lose all friends, lose yourself.
