These Girls Won Prom 2015 In Alternative Styles

by Rikki Byrd

The arrival of spring means we're anticipating warmer temperatures, flowers blooming, shedding our coats, and, oh, did I mention warmer temperatures? It also births the most anticipated season for teens: prom. While some stick to the traditional poufy tulle ball gowns or mermaid cut dresses with cutout at the sides, others take prom to another level. These ten alternative prom looks prove that you don't need to stick with the classics to master killer school dance style.

While guys have been going all-out planning promposals, these ladies were focusing on prepping some truly unexpected (and totally fabulous) looks that were sure to make heads turn. This season brought on a super sweet look that involved a cropped top and floor-length skirt. Other girls were inspired by Frozen, Audrey Hepburn, and more. If you're looking to see how creative promgoers are getting this season, or perhaps are still prepping a prom look of your own, use the hashtag #prom2015 on Instagram and prepare to be mind-blown. These ten looks are just a small taste of what you'll find.

Polka Dots and Pearls

Who would've thought that polka dots complemented by pearls could turn out to be such an elegant look?

Frozen Inspired

The Elsa-inspired dress and classic car in the background make this a prom win.

Prints Meant for a Queen

The swirls on this dress makes for a dizzying and floor-length gown, but don't miss her show-stopping bun that takes this look to new heights.

Breakfast At Tiffany's

Her Audrey Hepburn inspired gown is giving all kinds of Breakfast At Tiffany's fever.

All Striped Out

Stripes are difficult to master in everyday wear, let alone prom season, but this girl dominates the look with her strapless gown.

Pearls and Pin-Up

This look also has an Audrey Hepburn feel, with a little bit of a pin-up girl twist. The red lip and the black-and-white palette always seems classic, especially for a formal occasion.

Power Couple

Beyoncé and Jay Z is that you? Seriously, these two must have made the music stop when they showed up for prom.

Going Short

Who says you have to wear floor-length gowns to prom? This girl proves that you can certainly rock an above-the-knee number and look just as chic.

Pretty In Pink

The gold complements this bright pink number very well.

Keeping It Golden

Cropped tops and long skirts are definitely a trend this prom season. This look takes it a step further with a layered skirt.
