Zayn Malik's Speech Will Make 1D Fans Emotional

by Kenya Foy

As everyone knows by now, these past few weeks haven’t been the easiest for One Direction fans. Zayn Malik left One Direction for personal reasons and the group has resolved to move forth as a foursome. But it has to be a little difficult for Directioners to accept Malik’s plans to pursue the life of a normal 22-year-old when he keeps teasing them with these public appearances. As someone who has plenty of experience dealing with devastating pop band breakups, I can absolutely understand how seeing Malik out and about and still in the spotlight might give Directioners some hope that he’ll return to the group. And well, the fact that Zayn Malik accepted the Asian Award in London won’t do much to help them adjust to a four-member band. In fact, watching the video is probably going to make 1D fans downright emotional.

For one, Malik is sporting a shaved head (if you don’t understand why everyone makes a big fuss over Zayn Malik’s beautiful hair, then I don't know what to tell you), but he still looks stunningly gorgeous. I could be reaching here but maybe a fresh cut symbolizes a fresh start? Anyway, that’s not the only reason Directioners might come completely unglued while watching Malik’s acceptance speech:

Seeing Him at the Podium Alone

Whew. That's one huge reality check.

He Looks So Happy Accepting This Award Without 1D By His Side

I mean, who are those guys, Zayn? At least pretend to be sad your former 1D bros aren't there with you.

This Smile

Wait, is that a typhoon I hear? Nope, it's the sound of 10 million Directioners' tears.

His 1D Tribute

Yes, those four fine fingers represent Niall, Louis, Liam, and Harry. After accepting his award, Malik said, "I’d also like to take this moment to thank four of the best guys I’ve ever met whilst being in a band and doing all the amazing things that I did. The things that we did will stay with me for the rest of my life and I thank you for that."

This Tongue-Wagging Pose

Directioners are still dealing with the reality of a Malik-less group, so watching him ham it up for the cameras as if all is right with the world has to hurt.

SIGH. OK, Directioners. I'll stop giving you reasons to cry your eyes out. Besides, the salt from your tears won't feel too good flowing over your wounded hearts.

Bring tissues if you plan to watch the speech in its entirety:
