'Community's New Comic Genius

by Alanna Bennett

Surprising, weird, and totally cool news for the sitcom-lovers of the world: Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz is headed to Community. And no, not as a writer or consulting producer (sadly) — as a guest star. We don't really know what to make of that, but we do know we are extremely excited about it.

Here's how The Wrap describes his upcoming role:

Hurwitz will play Preston Koogler, Greendale’s ultimate party animal. Women want him, and guys want to be him. But, woe to the administrator who tries to stand between Koogler and good times.

We're picturing the genius behind one of the smartest television shows of all time as a giant man-child in a toga, holding a red Solo cup, and it's perfect.

Community comes back into our lives Jan. 2, and Hurwitz isn't the only recently-announced comedy person who will be appearing on the show: Tim and Eric's Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim will be part of a stint at Greendale, playing cohorts in one of Dean Pelton's "grand plans" for the community college.

Between this and the fact that Parks and Rec won't return to us until the new year, we are very upset that it isn't January yet.
