Apparently Websites Are Becoming Movies Now

by Alanna Bennett

If you thought Hollywood studios had run out of ideas for romantic comedy plots, congratulations you are correct! If you thought they'd run out of ideas years ago and have just been finding new weird ways to recycle the same ones by optioning new and weird things that still fit neatly in with their old ideas? Congratulations, you are also correct on that count. In other words: The Knot, The Bump, and The Nest have been optioned by 20th Century Fox for a film trilogy.

For those unfamiliar, The Knot, The Bump, and The Nest are three sites that focus on weddings, pregnancy, and the home/coupled life, respectively.

In other words, Fox has decided to do something very similar to the concept of turning self-help book What to Expect When You're Expecting into a movie, and it will likely feature a cast of at least a dozen differing (but intersecting!) storylines centered around people with recognizable faces exploring both the traditional and relatively "modern" ways of going about marriage/babies/life.

The movies are set to be written by former Gossip Girl writer Natalie Krinsky. Said movie will probably feature Kate Hudson and/or Katherine Heigl. It's just the way the world works.
