Is Peggy Carter In 'Age Of Ultron'?
It's no secret that Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron features a dynamite cast of characters filled with both new and returning players. Everyone from Falcon and War Machine to Agent Maria Hill and Nick Fury had parts, though they may have been small, in the highly anticipated sequel, with more rumored to appear. Both Captain Marvel and Loki were said to make appearances in Age of Ultron, though we now know that both will not. But what about the surprise star of Captain America, Peggy Carter — does Avengers: Age Of Ultron feature her as well?
Be warned of SPOILERS from Avengers: Age of Ultron moving forward.
Agent Carter fans, you can rest easy knowing that Peggy Carter does make a return appearance in Age of Ultron. Though, you might be wondering how, because Carter exists in the '40s, while Age of Ultron takes place in the present day. Is there time travel involved?
No, nothing like that. Carter actually just pops in very briefly — and it's all thanks to Scarlet Witch.
Played by Elizabeth Olsen, one of the newest members of the Avengers films wields telekinesis and mind manipulation as her supernatural weapons of choice — and the latter proves to be the most detrimental to Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Scarlet Witch gets inside most of the Avengers' minds to make their worst fears and insecurities come to life. For Captain America, this means taking him back in time to see Carter. The scene doesn't last for too long, but the character does make an appearance.
If you've been paying attention to the Age of Ultron promotional materials, then you already saw this coming. The official poster for the film includes the main cast of characters featured, and among the list of names is Hayley Atwell.
Any appearance from Agent Peggy Carter is a good appearance. Ever since debuting in Captain America: The First Avenger, she became an instant hit. Fans loved how she proved herself to be a strong, capable woman who could swing a punch as easily as she could flaunt a stunning red dress. Her popularity convinced Marvel Studios to feature her in one of their short films, called One-Shots, that was further spun off into its own ABC TV series. Though Season 2 of Agent Carter is still up in the air, the character still has a dedicated fan base.
The Avengers: Age Of Ultron hits theaters May 1.
