Zendaya Took A Risk At Her First Met Gala

by Alexa Tucker

Everyone's favorite teen fashion icon Zendaya Coleman wore a high-low dress to the Met Gala, but trust us, it was far from been-there-done that. The dress featured a short, structured red circle skirt with a long train trailing off the back, which had black and white geometric detailing down the inner sides. And that's just the beginning — if it sounds like there was a lot going on, that's because there was.

The top of the dress was black and had a plunging neckline, and a belt separated the bottom and the top of the dress. Have I mentioned the big suns on the skirt yet? No? Like I said, a lot going on.

This seems like the kind of look that would require minimal accessories, but leave it to Zendaya to raise the bar. Tying in to the details on the skirt, she wore a sunburst-adorned gold bracelet and arm band, and get this — a matching crown, too. So maybe it's a headband, but at this point, who's counting.

The one thing she kept simple were her heels, opting for simple black pumps. No word on whether they're a part of her upcoming shoe collection with Law Roach, but I'm not going to lie, I'm a little disappointed that she wasn't working these strappy stilettos with tassels that she teased on her Instagram earlier today.

This isn't my favorite look of the night, but I have to give Zendaya props for being such a major risk-taker. With both her hits and her misses, Zendaya is solidifying herself among the red carpet's elite. Welcome to your first Met Gala, Zendaya — we've definitely been waiting for you.
