What Martha Thinks About Celebrity Lifestyle Sites
The queen of the biz has some advice for up-and-coming female entrepreneurs, including some celebrities. Martha Stewart shared her thoughts about Goop, Preserve, and Honest Company — basically, all those lifestyle sites launched by Gwyneth Paltrow, Blake Lively, Jessica Alba, and now, Reese Witherspoon. In true Martha form, she let us know exactly what she was thinking.
Stewart, 73, was in NYC at the Makers of More event to promote her limited edition Triscuit (it’s toasted coconut and sea salt, FYI) when she commented on celebrities and their new business adventures. Sites like Goop, Preserve, Draper James, and the Honest Company are giving celebrities a new title beyond movie star and mom: lifestyle blogger and entrepreneur.
“If you have a good idea, and you really feel good about it, and you have the wherewithal and money to invest in a good idea, go for it!” Stewart encouraged, according to Us Weekly.
But if she had to pick one of the bunch, who would she give an A+ to? “I think Blake has done a good job with her site,” Stewart said. “It’s an interesting site – kind of interesting product on it.” That review sure sounds different from the first time she commented on Lively's site!
While that is still a compliment to her friend Lively, Stewart didn’t have much to say about Paltrow’s GOOP. “Gwyneth is developing her site. I looked at some of her product the other day, I thought it was interesting.” Well, interesting isn’t exactly synonymous with “good,” but it isn't bad. Still, Paltrow’s GOOP is the oldest of the lifestyle/e-commerce websites, so you could argue that she started the lifestyle site trend.

Martha did have some legit praise for one celeb, though. “Jessica Alba has done a very good job,” Stewart said. “She’s done a good job, and I think she means very well especially in terms of children’s products.”
One site that still isn’t ringing a bell for Stewart? The brand new southern lifestyle site, Draper James, by southern belle Reese Witherspoon. “What is she doing?," Stewart asked Us. “I don’t know Reese, I’ve never met her, but I’m sure she’ll do a good job.”
Overall, mama Martha was nothing but encouraging to her fellow female's sites. Girl power.
