Lupita's White Cannes Dress Is So Fresh, So Spring

by Lauren Turner

While we're over here at Coachella in crotchet tops and retro gear, celebrities are taking "festival wear" to the next level. And Lupita Nyong'o's white Cannes Film Festival dress is a perfect example of just how they're doing it. She seems to be everyone's clear choice as the official lady of Cannes, starting with her green red carpet dress to remember, and moving along to this Oscar de la Renta number.

Nyong'o's dress can be described as a crisp ivory — otherwise known as the color we all want out teeth to be. It was full of texture, accessorized accurately, and gave her skin a bump of extra glow. What starts as a lace-ish pattern, moves into pleats, then a silver-studded belt, and down into a flowy chiffon skirt. And for some people, that may seem like it's a bit too many textures for one dress. But what I like about it is the fact that no matter how complicated the make up of the dress is, it still looks so simple and sweet. Not to mention how effortless Nyong'o looks wearing it.

Paired with a camel clutch, silver-framed sunglasses, and the most adorable pair of kitten-heeled Mary Janes, Nyong'o epitomized the vibe at Cannes: laid back and oh so fabulous.

And she knew it, too. The actress posted a cute video of herself slow-motion twirling in her girly dress (and flashing her Lancome-approved smile), on Instagram. Captioned with, "It's never too late to twirl," you can tell she was enjoying herself.
