The Lonely Island Parodies Pop Star Documentaries

by Sofia Barrett-Ibarria

This is sure to ignite the fury of Beliebers. For everyone else, though, the new Lonely Island movie might be hysterical. According to Vulture, the upcoming movie produced by Judd Apatow has officially started shooting in Los Angeles. The movie was announced last year, Vulture reports, and will feature Lonely Island regulars Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer. More recently, Sarah Silverman was added to the cast of the movie that reportedly aims to "parody boy bands and fluffy music documentaries of recent years" like Justin Bieber's Never Say Never, One Direction's This Is Us, and Katy Peery's Part Of Me, Vulture reports. They're coming for you, Bieber. He may have just been roasted within an inch of his life, but Lonely Island will take on what remains of Bieber and roast it further with a "mockumentary-esque" story line that centers on a "rapper who reunites with his former boy band to administer damage control to a dud of an album." It's This Is Spinal Tap, for pop music.

In anticipation of the new movie and flood of Belieber tears, this is a tribute to the best classic Lonely Island videos past, present, and never forgotten:
