Starbucks Must Be A Fan Of Harry Potter

by Nathalie O'Neill

Forget all about your beloved Pumpkin Spice latte. Starbucks has actually come up with something that might actually be — gasp! — better than the sugary holiday deliciousness we look forward to all year long. Starbucks will be unofficially serving Butterbeer — for the uninitiated, that's a beverage from the Harry Potter books — during the holiday season. And after the horribleness of Jelly Belly's Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Bean (dirt flavor actually tastes like dirt, guys), I think we can all agree we deserve this yummy treat.

The drink is actually part of Starbucks' "secret menu", but if your barista follows this recipe from DaleBacar.com, she will create some Harry Potter magic.

A Crème Frappuccino base, made with whole milk (whole milk is required for the right consistency)3 pumps of caramel syrup3 pumps of toffee nut syrupTop with caramel drizzle

Yowza. That's a lot of sugar. Better take a quick broomstick trip to burn those calories off. If you prefer your Butterbeer warm, there's a hot latte alternative as well, courtesy of starbuckssecretmenu.net (yup, Starbucks lovers, that's a thing):

Whole milk steamerToffee nut syrup (2 for tall, 3 for grande, 4 for venti)Cinnamon Dolce syrup (2 for tall, 3 for grande, 4 for venti)Whipped cream and salted caramel bits on top

Optional if you prefer to add a coffee taste: add a shot of espresso (2 for a grande or venti)

Add Caramel syrup (2 for tall, 3 for grande, 4 for venti)

Remember to bring the recipe, because the ordinary Muggle barista will not be trained to make this drink. Let all the haters laugh at Potterheads' dorky excitement — it just means more delicious, sugary Butterbeer for us.
