Hulu Pulls '19 Kids And Counting' From Websites After Josh Duggar Controversy, But The Show Isn't Cancelled Yet
The fallout from the controversy surrounding the allegations of sexual abuse that Josh Duggar is facing continues. While TLC has yet to officially cancel 19 Kids and Counting, it have so far pulled episodes of the show from airing in its upcoming schedule. Now, the show is suffering another setback that stops just shy of cancellation: Hulu has pulled 19 Kids and Counting from its websites as well. According to Us Weekly, searching for the show just gives you an error message when you try to re-watch the clips, and you can forget about watching whole episodes.
This move is hardly a surprising one. The Duggar family has come under a lot of fire in recent weeks, not just because of the allegations but because of how drastically the accusations deviate from the wholesome, religious image that the family was painted with on the reality show. Duggar has since admitted to wrongdoing in his past in a statement to People, but he did not specify what that wrongdoing was or in any way indicate whether the allegations themselves were true:
Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.
Losing old episodes of 19 Kids and Counting on a website like Hulu might be a prelude to TLC canceling the show entirely, or it might just be an understandable response to the scandal that is surrounding the show and the network. There are rumors that a 19 Kids and Counting spinoff might still be on the horizon, although whether or not the show should have a spinoff in light of the horrific allegations associated with Josh Duggar is an ongoing debate even among fans.
