How Long Will Teresa Be In Prison?

by Marenah Dobin

Even with The Real Housewives of New Jersey off the air and the fact that she's currently in prison, people will not stop talking about Teresa Giudice. There is just something about her that's extremely captivating, and us fans are anxiously awaiting the 43-year-old's release from prison. We are all excited to see what the next chapter in her life will look like. But when is that going to start? How much longer will Teresa Guidice be in prison?

Well, the RHONJ star began her prison sentence on January 5, 2015 and was sentenced to 15 months behind bars. The simple math means that she would get out in April 2016. But hold up, that's actually not what's happening here.

There's actually a clause that would permit Giudice to be released early. Prisoners who are sentenced to more than one year are eligible to earn 42 days of credit for good behavior. This means that her sentence will be cut from approximately 450 days to an estimated 396 days.

If math is not your forte, her lawyer James L. Leonard Jr. released the specific date for Giudice's prison departure. In a statement to E! News, Leonard Jr. revealed that the reality star will be released on December 23, 2015.

That might seem like a long while away, but Giudice has already reached the half way point of her sentence. Her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga told fellow Bravo star Patti Stanger while appearing on her podcast, “She’s doing well — everything is great — I wouldn’t say great, but you know what I’m saying.” Gorga also mentioned that "she's always on the phone with her mother and her children.” These may not be the best circumstances, but Giudice seems to really be doing what she can to make it work.

In addition to keeping a watchful eye on her family, the mother of four has also been taking care of herself. Her lawyer revealed some additional information to E! News, saying, “She’s getting back in touch with her faith. She’s spending a lot of time praying in there and I think the Teresa that comes out of prison is going to wow people."

It looks like she will be back in time to celebrate a good, old fashioned Italian Christmas Eve and Christmas with her family. As for whether that will be televised like much of the rest of her life has been, we'll have to wait and see.
