Alexander Wang Debuts Credit Card Dress At CFDAs

by Augusta Statz

If you’ve got money, you might as well flaunt it, right? That seems to be at least one designer’s philosophy because Alexander Wang debuted a dress made out of American Express cards at the CFDA awards. The dress was a sneak peek at his resort 2016 collection, and after seeing the unique design, I can’t wait to see what else he has up his (very expensive) sleeve.

His model friend Anna Ewers rocked the dress on the CFDA red carpet, and while I’m not sure how comfortable a dress made out of a credit card would be, it sure did look good! The card was laser cut into tiny circles to form a sort of mesh, similar to the chain mail used in Wang’s Fall 2015 collection.

Wang’s collaboration with American Express is to celebrate the Gold Card’s 50 year history as a "symbol of success." And I don’t thing anything quite says success like wearing your money. Nope, I can’t think of a single thing.

The dress was short and styled with a pair of boots, giving it that much more edge. I would totally rock this look, if only I were a rich girl. Then, I’d have all the money in the world, and I’d buy this dress with it (thanks for supplying that reference, Gwen Stefani).

Now, see the look for yourself:

Not a bad way to show off your plastic, eh?
