"Cheater" Banner Flies Over Bobby Flay
Bad news for celebrity chef Bobby Flay. What was supposed to be an exciting event for the Food Network star turned into a cringeworthy moment on June 2. Flay received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which is undoubtedly a major accomplishment, especially for someone who is in the food and restaurant industry. However, the happy ceremony was overshadowed by an unexpected and anonymous guest from up in the air. A plane with a "cheater" banner flew over Bobby Flay's Hollywood star ceremony. Awkward!
A witness who was at the ceremony told E! News that the plane with the banner flew overhead just as Flay took the stage and remained circling over the area until he was finished speaking. Of course, the plane did not go unnoticed by the chef's fans who had gathered to hear him speak.
There has been no confirmation that the banner was directed toward Flay, and it is currently unknown who commissioned the plane to fly in that area during that time. But as E! reports, many are speculating that the insult was in fact aimed at Flay, who filed for divorce from Stephanie March, his wife of 10 years, back in April. He was accused of cheating on his then-wife by sources who claimed to the New York Post that his infidelity ended the marriage.
Flay's reps responded to allegations that he cheated on his wife with a female assistant who used to work at one of his restaurants, saying,
We will continue to refrain from responding to the continued efforts by certain parties to spread rumors and innuendo. This specific allegation was in a letter sent from one attorney in this case to the other. It was written and then leaked specifically to try to insert this story into the press, and that's unfortunate. Even more unfortunate is that all of this is being done in order to renegotiate a pre-nuptial agreement that was agreed to over a decade ago and never amended during the marriage.
Currently, the former couple is in the midst of settling their divorce in court.
