Todrick Hall's Minaj/Disney Mashup Is Flawless

by Kenya Foy

Who knew Nicki Minaj shared so many similarities with some of Disney’s most beloved characters? On second thought, after taking into consideration the rapper’s history of rocking colorful wigs, her animated personality (and lyrics), along with the fact that she once played a monster on The Cartoon Network show Steven's Universe, the connection isn't that difficult to make. But, if you still don't see how the Disney crew and the "Feelin' Myself" rapper could ever intersect, I'm sure that Todrick Hall's Nicki Minaj and Disney characters mashup will quickly clear up any confusion. As if singing all of Beyoncé's albums in four minutes wasn't impressive enough, the American Idol Season 9 alum has released what may be his best mashup ever.

Seriously, guys – it's that good. Personally, I considered Hall's Queen Bey mashup and the Disney evolution video he posted on Tuesday to be quite brilliant — but I must say that seeing Hall transform into "Mickey Minaj" has me convinced that he needs to dedicate some time to teaching a full-fledged course on how to create amazing mashups. Honestly, I’d be the first to sign up. Maybe he can show potential students exactly how he came up with the idea of having Cinderella drop a verse on Minaj and Big Sean’s remix to “Dance (A$$).” And I’d definitely pay good money to find out what inspired him to have Aladdin's Princess Jasmine rapping about flying carpets in the spin on Minaj’s "Starships."

Simply put, Hall’s creativity is astonishing. I just cannot figure out how he manages to fit so much awesomeness into such a small time frame — like his other videos, this one is relatively short and only lasts five and a half minutes. I have no clue how he does it, but in the mean time, I’ll be over here trying to learn the Evil Queen from Snow White’s verse on “Pills N Potions.”
