When it comes to Gossip Girl fans, it's been argued time and time again who exactly the main female lead was. While the beginning the show centered around the scandalous life of Serena van der Woodsen (because hello, she was the main reason Gossip Girl started in the first place), overtime, as her plots became well, boring, the focus of the show began to shift to a new (old) queen bee — Blair Waldorf.
Sure ,she may have started off as a bit nasty, what with her scheming and constant drama, but we slowly learned to love her for it. Because, honestly, her plots made the show that much more interesting. Even when her and S would get into petty fights, I found myself quietly rooting for B every time. And don't even get me started about the epic on and off again romance that is Blair and Chuck.
Aside from her amazing fashion sense and even better taste in men, fans thrived on her strong-willed persona and her need to be well-liked, because, in some ways, we all saw a part of ourselves in her character. In the world of Manhattan's elite, Blair was the underdog, constantly getting the short end of the stick. All in all, in her own twisted way, Blair taught us some important life lessons.
1. Don't Hide Your Feelings
If anyone knows about speaking up, it's Blair. She showed us time and time again that, sometimes, it's best to just put your heart on the line.
2. Stay Classy
Scheme all you want, but remember to have class. Repeat after me, "I am Grace Kelly. Grace Kelly is me."
3. There Is Always Light At the End of the Tunnel
Even after all the horrible things Blair went through, she managed to come out on the other side stronger than ever.
4. When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemon Macarons
Nothing makes a stressful day better than a bubble bath and a box of Blair's favorite baked goods from Ladurée.
5. Retail Therapy Is Important
Whoever said shopping can't cure a broken heart has never seen Blair Waldorf with a credit card.
6. Honesty Is Key
The truth may not be pretty, but Blair sure is.
7. Best Friends Are Forever
Even though S and B had their fair share of ups and downs, they both knew that, deep down, they were like sisters.
8. Your Worth Is Not Defined By a Man
Before she could be Mrs. Chuck Bass, she had to become successful Blair Waldorf.
9. Everyone Is a Princess
Sure, Blair may have been an actual princess for some time there, but, throughout the show, she reminded us that we all our flawless in our own way. That's a lesson that everyone should carry with them wherever they go.
