Denim jackets are definitely a thing again, but I’m also seeing denim overalls making their presence known in stores recently as well. Last week The Man Repeller wore white denim overalls over a light blue denim button down blouse, ironically advertising an article she wrote for her blog about that time she went five days without wearing a single piece of denim (which is a pretty difficult challenge for her, guys). As much as I would love to hop on the all-blue-jean-everything kick fashion’s got going on at the moment, Leandra Medine has swayed me toward white denim, specifically white denim overalls.

The only memory I have of myself wearing denim overalls was one time in the fourth grade. I was a really picky kid when it came to clothes; I clung to stretchy pants like peanut butter ruthlessly sticks to the roof of your mouth.

There was one pair of denim overalls I can recall ever letting my mother leave out for me to wear in the morning, on a school day no less. They were a little too long and a little too loose, but stitched across the chest were the words “Harry Potter” in navy lettering, and a golden snitch just below them. I was a cool kid and those were my cool overalls. Cue the cringing.

A crisp pair of white overalls looks quite fresh on a breezy spring, summer, fall and quite possibly winter afternoon. Pair with a plain tee, double up on denim or if you're feeling particularly bold on a hot and humid morning, throw on a pair over a colorful bandeau. The wonderful thing about white is that it goes with everything so feel free to experiment with blouses and accessories.
