Weiss shared her four day "double process" with ITG readers, confessing how she mustered up enough courage to approach her new "hair fuckery." We've all wanted to do something drastic with our hair, even thought a little piece of us inside knows that there's a huge chance it won't work out (for me, it was going hot pink a la Gwen Stefani in 1999). But unlike the majority, Weiss had a plan and a more than capable stylist to help her execute it.
Roots (faux or real) are key. Above the shoulder is key. And white is key—there mustn’t be a trace of yellow. It must look fake, artificial, and pure—not “natural.” It's more Kurt Cobain than Marilyn Monroe. And achieving the perfect tone is an art and a science and a labor of love and patience…from your colorist.
With this approach and the color mastery of Aura Friedman, Weiss successfully transformed her hair into platinum blonde perfection.
Because we're so smitten with Weiss' hair, we thought we'd round up a few more platinum blondes whose blinding hair we hope to one day courageously copy. Here are three more of our favorites.
Soo Joo Park
Aside from Gwen, this L.A.-based Korean-American model is arguably the most well-known platinum blonde in the fashion industry. Her long locks may go against Weiss' above-the-shoulder commandment, but its her bold, ultra-shiny waves that have put her on the map as one of today's most enviable hair icons.
Earlier this year, the Victoria's Secret supermodel debuted a much brighter shade of blonde. She's already since reverted to her more natural color, but we hope she considers going back to platinum now that the holiday runway show (and her all important job of modeling the $10 million bra) are over.
Michelle Williams can really do no wrong in our book. Not many women can pull of a platinum blonde 'do AND a boyish side-swept fringe, but the actress made all the other hairdos seem boring when she first stepped out as with her gorgeous hairstyle.
