What Will Kate Middleton Wear To The Christening?

by Dana Reszutek

As with many Americans, I have a healthy obsession with all things royal family, especially when it comes to the Duchess and her always-fabulous ensembles. Lucky for my fellow Kate-lovers out there, Princess Charlotte's christening is this Sunday, which means her glamorous mother will once again grace us with her chic presence. Oh yeah, and I'm sure baby Charlotte's christening gown will be on point too. So, what will Kate Middleton wear to Charlotte's christening?

Everyone who's anyone will be in attendance, aka, the Queen and the rest of the English royals (hopefully that means Prince Harry *swoon*). But for fashionistas, all eyes will be on Charlotte and her mother. I know you're wondering what Middleton will wear, from the designer she chooses to the way she styles her outfit.

Thankfully, this isn't Middelton's first time attending a christening, as Prince George's took place back in 2013. The little prince's christening was held in October when it was presumably chill outside, so she opted for a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen coat dress and hat, but I'm guessing since it's July and, well, hot out, the Duchess will show a little bit more skin (or most likely more sheer pantyhose) for Princess Charlotte's big day.

Here's a reminder of what Middelton wore to George's christening. I'm still obsessed with that very English hat:

Although we'll have to wait until Sunday to really find out what the newly minted mom of two will wear, here's a roundup of some runway moments that Middleton could totally pull off at the christening.

1. A cream jumpsuit

Jumpsuits are definitely trending for the spring, and who better to rock the latest look? Middelton could definitely pull off this simple yet chic cream Celine number.

2. White dress with strong shoulders

This Chloe look is perfect for the Duchess — classic, clean, with just the right amount of style. The strong shoulder details with a simple pattern would go perfectly with Charlotte's christening gown.

3. A daring McQueen look

Alexander McQueen is definitely one of Kate Middelton's favorite brands — I mean her last christening look and her wedding gown were both designed by, Sarah Burton, the house's current creative director. So it wouldn't be surprising if the Duchess chose a McQueen look off the runway, like this unique, ruffle peplum ensemble, which is daring yet still conservative enough for a church event. I'm betting she'd leave the mast at home, though.

4. Something simple and blue

This look from Topshop screams Kate Middleton — everything from the ornate pattern, to the simple cut can be easily pictured on the Duchess.

5. Bold patterns

One of Middelton's favorite designers, Temperley London, showed a lot of Kate-worthy looks on the brand's latest runway. This long-sleeved ensemble mixes bold patterns in a totally wearable way.

6. Soft pastels

Another Temperley London look. This pastel pink ensemble with a gorgeous, patterned coat is bold as well as soft — perfect for a christening. Plus we all know the Duchess loves her statement outerwear!

7. Dainty lace

A go-to spring look often involves soft details, such as lace. This Jenny Packham dress, which has lace detailing, a scalloped hem, and a high neck, would be perfect for the Duchess.

8. Simple and white

The most simple look Middelton could go for would be a fitted, long-sleeve ensemble, but this Prabal Gurung dress has a sheer hemline that adds the perfect touch.

9. The Perfect Spring Pattern

My favorite pick is this Lela Rose dress, which combines a conservative cut with a butterfly print that's got just the right amount of playful for this royal family's happy occasion.
