In a new commercial for the cherrified iteration of the classic 23 flavors-flavored soft drink, maroon liquid swirls out from the mouth of a Dr. Pepper Cherry can into a glass, like a delicious syrup cyclone. When I saw the ad for the first time, I wondered, Does Dr. Pepper Cherry really pour out in a corkscrew shape like that? Is this a thing now? Is this Dr. Pepper’s answer to Miller Lite’s Vortex bottle? No, no, and no. It is just TV spot special effects magic. As the commercial continued, my focus shifted over to the music. I wondered, Is that Spoon? Or do my instincts betray me once again? I am happy to report that my instincts did not betray me: The song in the Dr. Pepper Cherry commercial is “You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb” by Spoon. The track appears on the venerated indie band's 2007 album Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga.
