11 Braided Hairstyles For Summer Because These Hair Mavens Will Make You Up Your Braid Game
These days, summer is in full swing, the temperature is skyrocketing, and humidity is just killing the hair game. But instead of fighting frizz with keratin treatments or shaving it all off, there's one major look that can save your seasonal strand style — summer braids. From tight micro-braids and classical french plaits to bold basket-weaves and twisted fishtails, there are a myriad of options to keep your crowning glory looking royal all season.
Maybe it's because they're beautiful, maybe because it's summer and my curly locks want to be as poofy as possible, but I think the main reason I'm so fixated with braids is because I'm terrible at doing them. Yes, that's the shameful truth; I can't even create a simple, classic braid. I blame my mom for my lack of hair skillz; she's kept her wash-and-go ultra-curly hair in the same short style for over 40 years, so she never passed down any helpful styling tips. (But I still love ya mom!)
Until I get my shiz together and figure out how to weave my wig, I'll have to settle for obsessing from afar. Fortunately for me (and all of you too), there are plenty of talented tress artists on Instagram to provide oodles of coif eye-candy. Check out which brilliant braiders made my mane list.
