The Perfect Songs For Not-So-Perfect Days
I don’t want to brag, but I’ve been quite the tornado today: I unintentionally dropped a freshly peeled banana in the garbage (I wish I could say this was the first time I’ve made this error, but it wasn’t. You’d think I would’ve learned to stop peeling bananas over garbage cans by now, but I most certainly have not!); I stubbed my toe on the bathroom door; after lighting a candle, I accidentally burned the tip of my finger on the still-hot butane lighter; I knocked my Brita pitcher off of the kitchen counter and failed to catch it before every last drop of water wound up on the floor (in the middle of a serious drought, no less); when I took out the trash (R.I.P. freshly peeled banana), I unintentionally let an enormous winged beetle into my apartment. Just fail after fail after fail after fail after fail. Ugh, pull it together, Rohwedder! If only there were some songs to listen to during an epic fail of a day like tod— Oh, wait! There are.
(Am I being a bit dramatic? Probably. In the grand scheme of things, my day has not been that bad. For one thing, I just inhaled a plate of cheese and crackers. That's always a major win.)
Here are some songs that are perfect for any day that's been peppered with fail:
"Clumsy" by Fergie
This is basically my anthem.
"Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba
I knocked that Brita pitcher down, but I picked it up and refilled it again, this day's never going to keep me down.
"Same Mistakes" by One Direction
If my life had a soundtrack, this song would begin every time I cracked open a banana over the wastebasket.
"Conquerer" by Estelle feat. Jussie Smollett
That first verse sounds like what a hug feels like.
"Good Times, Bad Times" by Led Zeppelin
Sometimes, you just can't escape the fail.
"Nobody's Perfect" by Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana
¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
"The Dog Days Are Over" by Florence + the Machine
Maybe if I yell "THE BUG DAYS ARE OVER, THE BUG DAYS ARE GONE" enough times at that beetle, it'll take the hint and skedaddle.
"Everyone Makes Mistakes" by Big Bird
If you choose to listen to only one song today, make it this one.
