What Exactly Makes Logan Echolls Who He Is?

by Kaitlin Reilly

Perhaps one of the most important lessons you can learn from Veronica Mars is that even the characters you love the most are imperfect people. That's certainly true for the titular Veronica, but it's perhaps even more true for the only person capable of keeping up with her: the love of Veronica's life, Logan Echolls. Logan may be the love interest of our heroine, but he's a compelling character in his own right — there's no guy quite as complicated or challenging as Logan, and maybe that's why fans are so endeared to him.

When we first met Logan, he was described as Neptune High School's "obligatory psychotic jackass" by none other than Veronica herself. It made sense: Logan was a total bully who pushed Veronica around because he blamed her father, Keith, for the chaos surrounding Lilly Kane's death. It was only after Logan needed Veronica to help him answer questions about his mother's own suicide that the former-friends-turned-enemies began to realize that they were pretty perfect for one another.

Logan and Veronica may have gotten together, but it didn't turn Logan into a perfect guy — like everyone else in Neptune, Logan had a few flaws and more than a few aspects of his personality that made him a tough person to love... even if loving him really was so worth it.

So, what makes up Logan Echolls? Here's the anatomy of the former jerk turned Veronica's OTP.
