17 Pi Day Pie Recipes That Are Drool-Worthy

by Kendall Wood

What's your definition of a good, Pi Day-worthy pie recipe? Is it all about the crust being flake-y and light? Or, should it have a crunchy outer layer with a warm, gooey interior? Is it messy, or is it picture-perfect in its triangular shape? Better yet, is it sweet, or is it savory?

There's only one way to describe the best pie you've ever eaten, but there are two ways to spell it. Standing tall at 3.14 (and a looooong, endless string of other numbers), Pi may not carry with it the mouth-watering connotation that its counterpart does, but it has always called for the same celebratory attitude.

Mar. 14 is Pi Day, aka the unofficial holiday on which you declare your love for pie in every form and pretend to find the circumference of your pie of choice before proceeding to eat it all. However you spell pie, there are endless ways to satisfy your cravings and abide by the traditions of the irrational number 3.14. Here are 17 pie recipes catering to sweet, savory, and everything in-between.

Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie

I mean, if you're going to eat a cookie, why not do it right and go big — literally? More chocolate, more gooey cookie filling, and a crispy crust. This recipe from Half-Baked Harvest should be framed in your home.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Truffle Pie

If you're not fixated on the above photo, you should check the floor because you literally dropped your soul somewhere along the way. From How Sweet Eats, this truffle pie should be put on a pedestal just for looking so damn pretty without even trying.

Beer-Braised Chicken Pot Pie

Savory pie deserves the spotlight, too! This is the pie before the pie. For dinner on Mar. 14, cook up this fun spin on a classic from Half-Baked Harvest.

Vanilla Bourbon Cherry Blueberry Pie

Take vanilla, add a little booze, and throw in two of the sweetest, tartest fruits on the berry spectrum and you've got this killer from Half-Baked Harvest. Say no more, mon amour.

Fluffernutter Pie

If you really want to take it back to the days of celebrating Pi Day in grade school, recreate the coveted cafeteria favorite with this Flutternutter Pie from What's Cooking Love. Peanut butter and marshmallow for the win!

Banoffee Pie

The traditional Banoffee Pie, if you're like me and have never had it, is allegedly overwhelmingly sweet. This recipe from Oh She Glows, however, takes the OG and turns it into something everyone will love. Toffee, banana, whipped cream — uh huh, honey.

Loaded Peanut Butter Pie

This pie from Averie Cooks needs to be called Reese's Explosion. Maybe Reese's Roll-Me-Over-And-Put-Me-To-Bed. Or maybe Reese's On 'Roids.

Homemade Pizza Pie

If you're not thinking about pizza pie on Pi Day, did you even have a childhood? Do it right with this homemade recipe from The Kitchn.

Snickerdoodle Pie

Whoa, buddy. The chewy texture and subtly-sweet taste of classic Snickerdoodle cookie hits the big leagues with this recipe from Taste and Tell Blog. If you aren't eating this a la mode, shame on you.

Lemon Cream Pie

Some people throw away the lemon Starbursts and toss the lemon Skittles to the side, but there is a very niche crowd who appreciates the undervalued zest of this citrus fruit. This Lemon Cream Pie from Taste and Tell Blog is for you guys.

Slow-Cooker Shepherd's Pie

Another fun spin on the whole pie party idea, this Shepherd's Pie recipe from A Spicy Perspective is true comfort food. If you're snowed in on Pi Day, there's no other way to do it.

Chocolate Meringue Pie

As a kid, I would stand in the kitchen and salivate while my grandmother made her chocolate meringue pie from scratch. It was unattractive, but the pie was a 10. Try out this one from Lana's Cooking.

Brown Butter Chess Pie

This Southern classic hasn't quite gone as mainstream as the apple or cherry pie, but boy, is it worthy. Buttermilk, sugar, lemon zest, and very few additional ingredients go into making this recipe from Joy The Baker.

Sausage Ricotta Pepperoni Pizza

Just going to leave this here, in case you forgot it's Pi Day. Sausage and ricotta make for a spicy, creamy spin on the classic, from Damn Delicious.

Strawberry Rhubarb Crumb Pie

The group of people who savor fruit pies above all the rest are also in a category all their own; although, it is not a small one. This Strawberry Rhubarb Crumb Pie from Joy The Baker knows no bounds.

Red Velvet Cookie Pie

Take this pie-less stomach and fill it with Red Velvet Cookie Pie from Taste and Tell Blog. There is no other way.

Key Lime Pie

I know you didn't forget about Key Lime Pie. How could you forget about Key Lime Pie? It's tart; it's creamy; it's got graham cracker crust. Trust in the power of this one from Tori Avey.
