Ladies and gentlemen, a situation is about to go down. Nearly five years after the reality show's final episode aired on MTV, the cast of Jersey Shore is officially returning to the beach to film a reunion special. So there's no better time to prepare to Gym, Tan, and Laundry.

On Friday, 35-year-old Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino confirmed the news via Facebook, posting a screenshot of a report made by NJ.com. According to the article, cast members — Sorrentino, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "JWoww" Farley, Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Vinny Gaudagnino, Pauly "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio, and Deena Cortese — were spotted filming near Point Pleasant Beach and Asbury Park in the last month. The female castmates were also seen getting together for dinner at a New York City restaurant shortly after filming.

Polizzi spoke with E! News back in June and teased the possibility of reuniting with her Jersey Shore castmates, saying that she'd definitely be up for it, "but not for a long time because I have kids." Since Snooki is a mother of two young children, spending an entire summer filming might not be on her current list of plans. That, in turn, might mean you should expect for the reunion, whenever it airs, to be short and sweet.

Jersey Shore debuted on MTV in 2009, and after some stellar ratings skyrocketed the original housemates to fame, the show ran for five more seasons until its official end in 2012. MTV has yet to release any further details on the show's return, so right now, you may have to leave the rest up to your imagination. Though social media makes it so much easier to keep up with celebs these days, most viewers are probably interested in getting a better glimpse at what the cast has been up to since leaving their hard-partying days at the shore behind.

But it'd also be interesting to see the cast's dynamic after all these years, as some members didn't exactly end on the best terms. In the same interview with E! News, Polizzi admitted she hasn't kept in contact with Sorrentino since filming ended. "I haven't really talked to Mike since the reunion," she said. "We're not exactly friends. I don't wish harm on him or hold a grudge."

So there might definitely be a bit of drama for them to hash out on-screen, but who really knows? Maybe Snooki and the Situation will nip things in the bud and resolve their issues right at the beginning, and they'll spend the rest of the time focused on sleeping, GTL-ing, and partying just like old times. Fingers crossed.
