News of the 20th anniversary reunion of Buffy the Vampire Slayer has nearly broken the internet, thanks in part to Entertainment Weekly's recent tribute to the late '90s teen drama. And to add to the hysteria of the Scooby gang officially getting back together, many fans are wondering if David Boreanaz and Sarah Michelle Gellar are actually still friends.
But there's no need to worry — after Buffy wrapped back in 2003, it appears that many of the cast members have managed to keep in touch, according to a 2014 HuffPost Live interview with Gellar. More than a decade after the series finale, the actor shared that she's maintained life-long friendships with co-stars, Seth Green and Michelle Trachtenberg. She'd also later reveal a reunion with Alyson Hannigan via social media, despite rumors that the former besties had a falling out during their time on the show.
And as far as Gellar and Boreanaz are concerned, it appears that all has remained well between the former on-screen love interests, as SMG revealed to HuffPost Live that she and the Angel actor actually had the opportunity to spend a lot of time together while filming separate projects at the same studio a few years back. She told HuffPost Live, "David and I will always have a connection and we'll always stay friends." Plus, check out the nostalgia-inducing photo Gellar tweeted from hanging out on the set of Boreanaz's long-running drama, Bones.
And if that's not enough to give you major Buffy and Angel feels, Gellar later shared the most adorable photo collage in honor of the 47-year-old actor's birthday last May — a tradition that they've apparently been keeping up for some time now, with Boreanaz also sending a special b-day shoutout to the mother of two in 2015.
Almost all of the cast members of Buffy recently joined forces in celebration of the wildly popular TV series' monumental anniversary during a photo shoot for EW's latest issue.
So, there you have it, folks. It looks like vampires aren't the only thing immortal in the world of villains. The true friendship between Gellar and Boreanaz seems to be withstanding the test of time too.
