Reality shows are supposed to showcase reality, even though it doesn't often happen. But even by Bravo standards, Pheadra's divorce from Apollo Nida just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. And even though it's been months since this season was filmed, are Phaedra & Apollo divorced? It's still not clear, no matter how many minutes of Real Housewives of Atlanta are devoted to it. Earlier this season, Pheadra explicitly told the other cast members that her divorce from Apollo was finalized — it's part of what prompted Kenya to throw that joint party for Phaedra and Cynthia. In fact, when Apollo, over the phone, alleged that they couple weren't actually divorced yet, literally every single cast member was shocked, and every single one claimed that they had heard the opposite.
And even though the season was filmed a while ago, things keep changing about this case. According to TMZ, a judge took back the Parks-Nida divorce judgement because of several errors, including Apollo's name being misspelled as "Nita" on the divorce forms. TMZ also published a statement from Phaedra's representation, which seemed to confirm that the divorce has indeed been taken back. "It’s very confusing why a man who is engaged and enjoys frequent visits with his fiancée would work so aggressively to avoid ending his marriage. Regardless, Phaedra is reviewing her options with her attorney to determine the most efficient path toward ending this marriage so she can move forward and focus on raising strong, healthy and happy children," Phaedra's statement reads.
Here's one question that probably won't ever get answered: why? Why would Phaedra say she was divorced, that she was struggling to obtain the correct legal documents, and so on, when clearly something else is at play? The woman is an accomplished attorney. She's too smart to have not known that a misspelling could have huge consequences. Perhaps more will be revealed when she learns that Apollo's new fiancee appeared at an RHOA event and spilled the beans on the reality of what's going on with her marriage.
