Chris Pratt has made his first major public appearance after the announcement of his split from his wife, Anna Faris. At the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night, the actor won the surfboard for Choice Sci-Fi Movie Actor for his role as Peter Quill (aka Star Lord) in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. During Pratt's Teen Choice Awards speech, he was all smiles and his speech was focused on his work, not his marriage.

If Pratt's personal life has got him down, the actor made sure not to show it as he took to the TCA stage. Using his trademark charm, Pratt gave a sweet shout out to the presenters — Millie Bobby Brown, Grace Vanderwaal, and Maddie Ziegler — and then thanked the fan who announced his win via video chat. Pratt then shifted gears, revealing that very first lie he told in Hollywood was to his agent. "He [the agent] said, 'Wow, bro, you must surf.' And I said, 'Uh, yeah.' And that was the first of many lies that I've told to get to where I am today," Pratt said, earning a laugh from the crowd. It's fitting, then, that Pratt take home a fully functional surfboard tonight. Of course, the actor also took the time to thank his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director, James Gunn, and God.

Pratt clearly made a choice to steer clear from saying anything that could be construed as a hint about his personal life during his speech, instead choosing to focus on his career. It's not a surprising move for the actor, who announced his split from Faris with a simple Facebook post just one week before the awards. In their joint statement, Faris and Pratt declared that they were legally separating and emphasized that they would be keeping the details of their changing relationship private for the sake of their son, Jack. "Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward," read the statement.

Pratt must be going through a tough time right now, but it was good to see him smiling on Sunday night.
