This Karl Lagerfeld Capsule Collection Self-References In An Amazing Way

Karl Lagerfeld and his beloved fluffy cat Choupette have been immortalized in a graphics-driven capsule collection. Lagerfeld and artist/illustrator Steven Wilson joined forces for a limited edition collection for Lagerfeld's namesake brand, featuring shirts, a bomber, clutches, and more, according to Women's Wear Daily. But this isn't just a self-referencing set featuring the silver-haired, black leather fingerless glove-wearing fashion icon and his fave pet in illustrated form. This collection, which won't be inexpensive, is edgier than you'd expect. Why's that?

The designs were created via layers of cyan, magenta, and yellow, per WWD. Those are the shades used in the printing process. Cyan is a bluish-green shade, in case you didn't know. I didn't, either, and had to Google it. #NoShame.

Basically, the three colors are layered to create identifiable shapes, according to Wilson. The overlap of the colors creates secondary shades like red and green, says Wilson, who has quietly worked with mega brands like Adidas, Converse, and Levi's but is front and center for this collab.

Images of the designer, Choup, who was once the face of a shu uemura makeup collection, and more are festooned on a pair of jeans and a tee, too. The items go on sale in stores and online on Saturday, Apr. 1.

Let's look at the covetable pieces.

Lastly, you've got a pair of white jeans, featuring both the master and his beloved kitty! This capsule is too cool. If you want to invest in a high fashion piece, these are viable options.
