Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid Walked Tom Ford's Show In Sheer, Lace Dresses

Although Tom Ford was technically included on the roster of designers showing at New York Fashion Week, his Fall 2020 ready-to-wear runway show actually took place in Los Angeles over the weekend. And in true LA form, it brought out a host of celebrities who were both in the crowd and on the runway. Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid were among the supermodels who showed off some of Ford’s latest designs, including two ultra sheer black lace dresses.

Bold yet elegant was the theme for the night, with Hadid debuting a totally transparent, floor-length, long-sleeve gown. Though the featured a conservative turtleneck silhouette, it was made entirely out of chic black lace, a nod to Ford's penchant for daring, statement-making pieces.

Similarly, Jenner stepped onto the catwalk wearing another black lace gown with a large cut-out and large black velvet bows across her chest. Both models wore their hair pulled back with deep side parts and matching black barrettes. While awards season 2020 has officially come to a close, the two designs are definitely made for the red carpet, and it’s likely we’ll spot them on one of our favorite style stars in the near future.

On Instagram, Hadid wrote about her appearance in the show, expressing gratitude to Ford for being a constant source of support for her modeling career. “Thank you forever and always Tom and @carineroitfeld," she began. "I will never forget your support from the beginning, and it will never stop being an honor!"

In addition to Hadid and Jenner’s sultry black lace gowns, the collection included a host of glamorous, on-trend ensembles that embody Ford’s elevated but approachable ethos. He debuted tie-dye tops with sweeping, floor-length capes; a cheetah-print coat layered over a gray sweatsuit; and a slinky silk suit with a plunging neckline. In terms of color, the collection was rooted in Ford’s signature all-black approach, though there were also bursts of royal tones like emerald and amethyst.

Ever since Ford departed Gucci as its creative director in 2004, his eponymous label has developed a devoted following all its own. Over the last 16 years, he’s established himself as the singular designer for those who want to attain a glamorous, elevated look. And it appears that won’t be changing anytime soon.
