You have to hand it to makeup artist Pat McGrath and how she mysteriously rolls out her new products for her eponymous line in a hush hush fashion, like the 004 Lip Kits, which I have and use for special occasions. There is a new Pat McGrath product on the way, according to a tease on the brand's personal Instagram. It's a photo of a white bar code, with "ADDICTED TO BLACK" in all caps underneath. That caption simply stated, "Coming soon." A few days prior, the brand also posted a photo of three models with seriously rimmed, extra sooty-looking eyes. I fell instantly in lurve.
Based on these two visual clues and not much else, McGrath fans are already speculating about her latest makeup innovation and here are some of the more plausible theories.
My personal hope, wish, and idea? Eyeliner. More specifically, a super matte, super pigmented, immovable eyeliner because duh. As an unashamed black eyeliner addict, McGrath would make all of my dreams come true with such a product.
In the Insta comments, one fan speculated that it might be a black lipstick. Since McGrath is known for dramatic lips and lids, that would not shock me, either. Since a lot of her products have come with several elements, maybe she is doing something monochromatic for puckers and peepers.
A few fans even stated that they don't care what it is, they just know that they need it already. You know, I can't argue with that. McGrath's products certainly inspire that sort of devotion, since they are so good. She is able to translate high fashion, editorial looks from the page into real life.
Here is the other tease that was posted. A study in black, huh? Look at those statement eyes! The model on the far left is fully rimmed, while the one in the center has a thicker rim and bigger, bolder lashes. The model on the right has a dramatic flick. This pic would suggest that McGrath's newest product will help you create eye looks like these!
Here is a sampling of the Insta comments — the last one says it all! Makeup obsessives know Pat McGrath isn't bringing anything but quality and innovation to faces on the runway and off.
