Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme: When two characters get together on-screen, rumors abound that the actors playing them are in love in real life. Enter Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington, who play Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow on Game of Thrones. In Season 7, the King in the North and the Mother of Dragons finally got together on-screen for some very conflicting sexy time (they're related), so naturally the rumors that the actors were dating off-screen resurfaced. And it's easy to understand why. When you see two attractive fictional people get together, you don't want them to be apart.

Even though they hadn't shared screen time until Season 7, rumors that Harington and Clarke were dating have been around since the HBO series' inception. The rumors are untrue, though. Even though they are close friends, the co-stars are not and have never been together.

In fact, Harington is living with his former co-star and current IRL love interest Rose Leslie, who is also a close friend of Clarke's. Meanwhile, Clarke has never revealed who she is dating, if anyone, though she has said that actors are on her no-no list.

And even though they definitely aren't together in the real world, seeing Harington and Clarke's friendship will encourage you to ship them on the show even though it's, you know, really weird. And even if you don't jump on that bandwagon, the pictures of their IRL relationship are still incredibly cute.
