Serena Williams' '50s Themed Baby Shower Looks Like Such A Blast
Back in April, Serena Williams accidentally announced her pregnancy on Snapchat. In a post that was meant to be private, Williams showed off her baby bump with the caption, "20 weeks." The tennis champion had recently married Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, and this will be couple's first child. On Saturday, Williams shared pictures from her baby shower, and it looked like she and her guests had the best time. The 1950s themed event took place at Nick's 50's Diner in West Palm Beach, Florida. There were plenty of stars in attendance, including Ciara, Kelly Rowland, Eva Longoria, and Williams' sister Venus. Based on the pictures, it was a day of great outfits and celebrating.
Williams clearly took a cue from her pal Beyoncé's push party. Many of the same guests were in attendance, but the theme was original. Every one of the A-list guests were dressed in retro '50s attire, and the old-school diner made a great background for the pictures. William's friends documented the event on social media, using the hashtag #ShakeRattleandRoll2017. It's difficult to think of a better way to prepare for Williams to celebrate her baby-to-be than a colorful, fun event with her closest pals.
The Group Shot
Ciara posted several pictures from the shower to Instagram, fully embracing the theme with a traditional poodle skirt.
By The Juke Box
In another snap from inside the restaurant, Ciara posed with Serena's sister Venus by a jukebox. One can only assume they were trying to put on "1, 2 Step." By now, that's sort of a retro song, right?
Moving & Grooving
Ciara and Venus also danced for a quick video with Serena, who seemed to be having a great time at the party.
Vintage Cars
Venus wasn't the only guest to opt for some polka dots. Kelly Rowland also went for the retro print. Rowland recently debuted her first parenting book, Whoa, Baby: A Guide For New Moms, so she likely had some advice for the mom-to-be.
More Car-Side Poses
La La Anthony went with a Rosie the Riveter style look, also posing alongside the car.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the baby shower was an intimate but fun-filled event. Guests played games, crafted, and ended the evening with a big dance party. At the very least, it seems the party was a chance to listen to some oldies, wear fabulous costumes, and snack on traditional '50s diner foods like shakes and fries.
Hopefully the shower made Ohanian and Williams even more pumped to welcome their first child into the world. Fans seem just as excited for baby's arrival.
