Plus Size Blogger Allison Teng Is The Face Of Torrid's Adorable New Collection

Plus size retailer Torrid has been releasing tons of geeky girl power pieces this year, including its recent Wonder Woman capsule collection. The brand's latest limited edition set is all about Hello Kitty, and even better, Torrid tapped plus size blogger Allison Teng to be the face of the adorable new collection.

The eight-piece collection, which is entirely online-exclusive, features looks from across the board, including a vintage-inspired border print swing skirt, denim patched shorts, and a Peter Pan button back top. Pieces in the collection are offered up to size 6X, aka size 30, with a 66 to 70-inch bust and 60 to 64-inch waist.

For its Wonder Woman collection, Torrid brought on body-positive blogger and Instagrammer Roxy Reyes; for this collection, the brand asked Teng, who founded the plus size fashion blog Curvy Girl Chic in 2009, to work with them. This isn't Torrid and Teng's first collab — Teng starred in Torrid's #InMyJeans campaign in August 2016, and she tells Bustle that the shoot was such a positive experience, she jumped at the chance to team up again.

"I love working with Torrid because they really take the time and make the effort to produce the clothes we want to wear," she says. "The fit is impeccable, and they consistently release pieces and collections that women of all styles, backgrounds, and interests can wear. They break fashion 'rules' like steering clear of prints and colors, and instead, give plus size women shopping options, which is all we're really asking for!"

But their friendly history wasn't the only reason Teng was stoked to model this collection. She explains, "I grew up obsessed with all things Sanrio [the Japanese company behind Hello Kitty], so getting to model this super cute Hello Kitty collection from Torrid is a total dream come true!"

This particular campaign is special to her, she adds, because of how inclusive it is. "All too often, the cute, trendy, colorful pieces are reserved for smaller women, so seeing a bright and fun collection like Hello Kitty x Torrid offered in such an inclusive size range is amazing!" she says.

In the end, Teng hopes people walk away from her Torrid campaign knowing that a love for Hello Kitty — and her uber-cute merch — is for everyone, regardless of size.
