The Internet Wants Mermaid Brushes To Be Real

by Kim Carpluk

When it comes to makeup brushes and sponges, you probably have gadgets and gizmos a-plenty, and whozits and whatsits galore. I bet you even thought your collection was complete. But think again, because mermaid makeup brushes could be on their way to becoming a very real part of your world.

Unicorn Lashes, the same UK-based company that brought the world unicorn brushes, is now bestowing this mermaid magic upon eager makeup lovers. Simply put, the internet cannot handle it.

The brand posted a prototype picture to their Instagram and Facebook accounts on Jan. 2. The photos have since been removed from both accounts. Bustle has reached out to the brand for comment, but has not heard back.

However, since this is the internet we're talking about, the images live on. In an interview with Revelist, Unicorn Lashes founder Mel Blue stated that the "aesthetics [of the brushes] will definitely be more important than function," which is definitely perfect for the limited edition makeup collection hoarder out there. To be honest, they're almost too pretty to even attempt using, even if they are just prototypes.

Instagram user @Trendmood1 and other beauty lovers have since immortalized the post on their own accounts. The cyber cosmetic community is flipping their fins over the mere possibility of these brushes existing. Like this girl who simply says what we're all thinking:

And this underwater-goddess-in-training who's not opposed to a little bribery:

Or this savvy gal who's ready to be broke:

Just look at this mermaid-loving lady, who's ready to make the ultimate sacrifice:

And most importantly, this stud who's certainly got the right idea:

Forget rings. What better way to express unwavering devotion than the gift of magical mermaid brushes?

According to Revelist, a release date has not been announced yet, but you can sign up for the Unicorn Lashes mailing list and be the first to know.

Editors Note: Bustle received the following statement from Unicorn Brushes: "The mermaid brushes we posted were just a concept. We are going ahead with a full prototype design that I hopefully will have by Friday. The picture we posted was just to get an idea on the response to having mermaid brushes in the brand, and we want to create something very unique with our final concepts that are as unique as our unicorn brushes." Additionally, the photo that was originally posted by the brand (shown in the Facebook posts above) doesn't reflect the final version of the product.

Update: The photo at the top of this article is the final factory image of the Unicorn Lashes mermaid brushes.
