'The New Edition Story' Cast Vs. The Real Boy Band

BET

The three-night BET biopic event which chronicles the boy band that started it all in the '80s and '90s starts Tuesday. If you weren't excited enough, The New Edition Story cast is filled with talented singers and actors that will remind you of your former faves. The miniseries has assembled a supergroup of its own.

At the beginning, the young members of the group are played by Caleb McLaughlin from Stranger Things, Myles Truitt, Jahi Di'Allo Winston from Feed The Beast, Dante Hoagland, and Tyler Marcel Williams. The miniseries also stars Community actor and known The Walking Dead fan Yvette Nicole Brown, La La Anthony, and Bre-z from Empire.

However, what New Edition fans are really interested in is who is playing the group during their idol days. You've seen most of their faces and heard most of their voices already, either in solo projects or as part of a musical show or movie. This cast should make the iconic real life members of New Edition proud. Here's the cast below, where you know them from, and their character's real life counterpart. I can't make you slide for these two — this photo is too cute! As the final member of the ultimate group Bell Biv DeVoe, this is not Powers' first musical biopic. He played Tyree in Straight Outta Compton. He was also in Faking It, Sin City Saints, and Recovery Road.

As the group's last member, James is relatively unknown. The actor has been seen before in Black Nativity and Rift. That said, he is a singer songwriter in his own right.

Finally, the group's breakout performer and infamous celebrity Brown is played by the series' true newcomer — though McClain has an impressive social media following.

Together, these actors cohesively form the group New Edition in The New Edition Story. We'll see how they compare musically and dance-ically when the miniseries premieres!
