This Is The Best Bill Paxton Scene In 'Twister'

by Amanda Richards

A tragic bit of Hollywood news broke on Feb. 26: Actor Bill Paxton has died at the age of 61, according to a report by TMZ. According to a statement from Paxton's family, "It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery." The actor was known for a variety of different roles — one such memorable part was his turn as the intrepid sea explorer in Titanic — but hardcore Paxton fans (myself included) will always love him for his role as a passionate storm-chaser in Twister.

For those who need a refresher, Twister is a cult classic film about estranged spouses (played by Paxton and Helen Hunt) who find themselves reunited when Paxton's character visits Hunt to get her to sign divorce papers. What he doesn't realize is that she'll soon be caught up in the storm that Hunt's character is chasing — and what happens next is romance at it's finest.

Twister itself is an incredible film, full of tension and drama and yes, a flying cow that sails by the screen after being caught up in a cyclone However, the one moment that really sticks out is Paxton's mid-tornado confession of love to Hunt, a dramatic come-to-Jesus relationship moment that literally takes place in the heart of the storm. Intense, right? It's hard to imagine anyone's marriage not being saved by that passionate speech. Of course, it's not Paxton's only memorable scene in the movie. This one is a romantic moment between the leading pair before they even knew it was romance:

The whole film is full of fine Paxton moments, and given the tragic news the entire thing is definitely worth a revisit. Paxton may no longer be with us, but his storm-fighting legacy in Twister will definitely live on.
